Whole Family Catechesis is an option which is approved by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia with guidelines. This option blends both the traditional approach and home-based catechesis or home schooling for the faith formation of your child. The program is thematic, that is, all grade levels study the same topic simultaneously. This method assists families with multiple children on different levels.

By choosing Whole Family Catechesis, a parent/guardian takes on the role of his/her child’s catechist. By checking the boxes below, I agree to:

  • Cover 5 units of the Loyola Press textbook from September to May. The completion of each unit is approximately 5-6 weeks.
  • Attend 5 scheduled in-person sessions with the DRE at the parish for a presentation on each unit and its corresponding resources (lesson plans, videos, activities) which support the lesson. This meeting will be approximately 1 hour.
  • Set aside 60 minutes per week to teach my child(ren).
  • Send in weekly quizzes and other assignments as required to the DRE or grade level catechist.
  • Bring to and stay with my child at calendared events (1-2 per semester) for their faith formation such as confessions, stations of the Cross, May celebration, etc.
  • I authorize permission for pictures/filming of my child(ren) taken during Prep or sent via email to be used for Prep publications such as newsletters, web page, Facebook page, and Instagram. I authorize permission for my child to be present in church during any events or sacraments that are live streamed.
  • There will be five meetings throughout the year. (Families will be required to attend five of the six meetings.)  All of the meetings will take place on Sunday, immediately following the 10:30am Mass.

    The dates are as follows:

    Sunday, September 12th

    Sunday, October 17th

    Sunday, December 5th

    Sunday, January 23rd

    Sunday, March 6th
